Green Christmas Gifts

Green Christmas gifts are hot this holiday season.

If you're an environmentalist (or you know one) then you know what going green and giving green is all about.

Let's face it. The holiday season sucks up a lot of electricity from the grid. This electricity is mostly from coal-fired power plants, which makes this time of year black with CO2 emissions.

But, in order to combat greenhouse gasses and global warming, it's time to give green Christmas gifts and just say no to Middle East oil. Now, there are many green Christmas gifts that one can make from scratch, starting with a wreath. You can also decorate a living tree and plant it after all the festivities are over with.

In order to help you out some more, though, we have put together a top 10 list of green Christmas gifts that you can give this year.

Top 10 Green Christmas Gifts

1. Living tree
2. Frog
3. Organic soaps
4. Organic fruitcake
5. Biodegradable box of wrapping paper
6. Biodegradable elf
7. Fuel cell car
8. Solar-powered dog
9. Rudolph the Red Nose Rain Purifier
10. Al Gore

Of course if you don't have the money to give either Al Gore or a fuel cell car as the ultimate green Christmas gift, then why not substitute another eco celebrity such as Susan Sarandon, Ed Begley, Jr. or the remains of Dennis Weaver.

Kermit the Frog used to say "It's not easy being green" so why not give Kermit as a present for the youngest of your children to play with? Of course there are a few other green Christmas gifts that didn't make the list that may be worth considering for some people and in some circumstances.

For instance, if nothing on the top 10 list tickles your fancy you may just want to consider a PETA-certified fur coat to give. Or perhaps you'd like to give a Nuke the Pukes t-shirt? Perhaps you'd even like to start a Free Willy Then Harpoon Him campaign in your child's name?

The possibilities for green Christmas gifts are endless. The point is to be wild, be creative and be funny and you too will come up with the perfect green Christmas gifts to give the whole family.
